NPDF OFFICIALS ATTEND POLICE DEDICATION
IN GENOA ITALY
On March 2, 2009, NPDF President Jack Holder and Executive Director Joseph Occhipinti presented a "VALOR AWARD" to the family of slain Italian State Police Officer Daniele Macciantelli killed in the line of duty in September 2008. The officer was responding to a domestic violence call when he was fatally stabbed by the suspect.
The dedication ceremonies included the renaming of a soccer field in the memory of Officer Macciantelli and a special concert by the Italian State Police Band. Director Occhipinti told the audience that Officer Macciantelli was a real life hero who made the ultimate sacrifice and will never be forgotten by the law enforcement community, both in the United States and Italy.
